I am amazed at how the facts of science fit the creation model of origins. Many wonder why I invest the time to present creationism and defend the Word of God. Why is it important to me to declare the creator and savior Jesus Christ? Well, because this is near and dear to my heart. The controversy went on in my life, until I accepted what the Bible says.
I am convinced that the very same conflict goes on in many believers' hearts and minds. I have seen humanism and evolution undermine young believers. I know more mature Christians who see little practical value in standing for the truth. And, I know that God would have me stand for his Word alongside those who will join me.
When I went to college, my goal was to study science, yet come out still believing in God. All around were hoards of people whose faith crumbled studying science.
It wasn't until my last year of college that I heard the gospel: that Jesus Christ died for me, personally. I had certainly believed in God, but had never received Jesus Christ as my personal Savior from sin and hell. I then asked him to save me, and he did. Everybody needs to be saved.
But, that didn't answer the question of how I was to deal with all the evolution I had learned. I wrestled with this seeming dichotomy a long time. Finally, I realized that I had to accept God at his word. The rest would fall into place.
Creation by God must be accepted by faith. The Scriptures will withstand analysis (textual critcism, archaeological discoveries, and scientific scrutiny). But, evolution has to be accepted by faith, as well. It doesn't hold up well under analysis.
I am not too interested in the typical anti-creation harangue, nor the typical anti-evolution counter. I was there. I am here. But, it will be necessary to point out wrong thinking, incorrect assumptions, poor conclusions: which I do not hesitate to do. I am no better than anyone else, evolutionist or creationist. I am different, since I've been born again. I differ further in being a creationist, since there are believers who cling to, or justify evolution. Yet more: I differ in that I am a biblicist baptist by conviction. Fundamentalist was a good word for that, but it has been vulgarized, as have many good descriptives for believers.
