A cute baby picture introduced what was born this spring: Creationist Fellowship. The little protoceratops represents the 1922 Mongolian discovery: rare evidence of dinosaur eggs and skulls in all stages from hatchling to adult.
On a plateau in northern Montana paleontologist John Horner (Museum Of The Rockies, Bozeman) unearthed dinosaur eggs, tens of them in more than a dozen nests made by dinosaurs. He named them maiasaur, good mother lizard, because of the evidence of their caring for their young. Many fossilized skeletal remains were also found. On May 12 we watched a video reenactment showing the methods of a dig. The painstaking care of excavating with paintbrushes and careful chiseling was rewarded with copious specimens. Dr. Horner's intriguing story is told in his book Digging Dinosaurs.
Commentators of varied camps have attempted to put the burden of behemoth (select Back to return here) on the hippopotamus, or the elephant. Neither can bear it. A large lizard, slender and powerful against any rope that may be put around his body; the dinosaur moves his tail like a cedar. Not the red cedar we are familiar with, but the cedar of Lebanon, the slow growing , stately tree greatly prized to panel the temple (I Kings 6), and build a royal palace(I Kings 7). Some examples today boast trunks with a forty foot girth. The tail of the hippopotamus or elephant more closely resembles the paleontologist's paintbrush!
And the Lord's revealing remark to Job " Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee..." is testimony for the Paluxy River finds. But, the case won't be won. It cannot be, because the issues integral to the case are in another realm, which is just the point. The evolutionist looks from a different vantage. Believers have the advantage. That means the evolutionist needs to be given the benefit we have. We have the Word of God, the mind of God. The mission field evolutionists rub shoulders with us every day. "Some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame." (I Corinthians 15:34). These are why Creationist Fellowship was hatched this spring.
We then watched the video Dinosaur Mystery Solved. Dr. John Morris spoke of dinosaur discoveries and development of specimens: the assumptions and the mistakes that are made. He repeatedly asked, "How do you know?" The issue is interpretation. Your own foundation of belief determines the outcome. The Bible is factual and stands before the evidence of the fossils that won't go away, either. Scripture doesn't cave in before the artifacts, but a lot of people do. We have got to make them aware of the truth, of their need.
